Two classrooms allow us to offer many program options for your child:
3 Year and 3-4 Year Classes
Our three year-old and three/four year-old programs are dedicated to providing a positive first school experience to help children happily adjust to the big transition from home into school. Our classroom helps to develop each child’s personality while promoting self-reliance, independence and positive social interactions. We follow theme-based curriculum where our consistent, daily routine always includes circle time, collaborative and cooperative group games, table activities (crafts) to sharpen our fine motor skills, snack time, story time, and of course, time to play at centers. Through these thematic games, activities and crafts children learn pre-literacy and early numeracy skills by being in the midst of valuable playschool experiences.

4 Year-Old Classes
Students in the four year old class follow a thematic learning approach that allows them to learn about and explore the world around them. Toys, books, songs, crafts and activities correspond to the units that we are studying. Sample units include Canada, Space, Dinosaurs and Safety. In addition to the changing thematic units students also explore pre literacy and numeracy skills. We look at a letter a week and work on numeracy skills throughout the year and in conjunction with the calendar. Students have the opportunity to share ideas and questions during circle and show and tell. Students also learn shapes and safety concepts. Perhaps more importantly students work on classroom routines, structure and on kindergarten readiness. A variety of art projects and activities allow students to explore a variety of media and to work on their fine motor skills. Students are encouraged to play cooperatively and to begin to become more independent in a classroom setting.

4 Year-Old OPTIONAL CLASSES
Four year-olds can add these classes to their regular classes.
Science Class
The science class gives students the opportunity to inquire and discover about the world around them. Students will follow a thematic approach and learn about themselves and the natural world. They will conduct simple experiments, observe demonstrations, predict and record. They will follow the scientific process and become amateur scientists in their quest for knowledge. Books, resources, and activities will be reflective of the unit of study.
Fine Arts Class
The fine arts class is a new program starting in our playschool with an emphasis on creative artistic expression. Through drama, visual art and movement our four year-old students will develop creative thinking and be encouraged to respond to activities in their own unique way. Our visual art activites allow students to explore a variety of materials and mediums as well as learn about the styles and techniques of a few artists. The unique drama program offers an improvised and collaborative approach to drama using puppetry, masks, costumes, and a lot of imagination! Creative movement activities are designed to give students exposure to a range of actions and musical styles. We do more than just learn – we create, explore and soar!
*to be integrated in the regular 4 year classes in 2012-2013 school year.
