Our playschool receives funds from two sources: fees and fundraising.  The funds are used for salaries, rent, supplies, fieldtrips, up to date toys, books, and equipment.  The fees you pay for your child each month do not cover the costs needed to maintain the playschool program.  The fees contribute to a portion of the revenue needed and the rest of the revenue comes from fundraising.

Therefore, each year the WECP board runs a few in-school fundraisers, and every second year one major fundraising event; a volunteer operated casino.

Casino

The WECP Parent Advisory Board is a  non-profit organization, thus enabling us to apply for a casino gaming licence.  Alberta Gaming requires us to fill all volunteer positions in order for us to maintain our casino licence every two years.  Profits raised in the past have exceeded $60,000.  Obviously, this is a worthwhile fundraising event!

Each time we are granted a casino, we are required to provide 40-50 volunteers over two days to cover both daytime and nighttime shifts, lasting about 8 hours long.  These volunteers are recruited from the families that belong to our playschool, and no previous training or knowledge of casino games is needed.

Families are required to provide a $250 refundable, not dated cheque that will be returned once a volunteer form has been completed a the assigned shift worked.

Please note that the assigning of shifts and casino positions
will be done in the order of volunteer forms received!
